Kevin Kewley was born in 1955 in Liverpool,
England. From the time he could walk, Kevin played soccer and progressed to the
point where he eventually was picked up by the Liverpool Football Club at the age of 16. Kevin played with Liverpool until
1978.
During the off season, Kevin also played
with the Dallas Tornados for 4 years from 1976 to 1979.
In 1979, Kevin moved to Wichita to play
with the Wichita Wings indoor soccer team and played for 11 seasons. During the
1980-81 indoor season, Kevin was the 16th highest scorer in the MISL. In
recognition of his contribution to the Wichita Wings and the game of soccer, Kevin “the Tiger” Kewley’s
#8 jersey was officially retired by the Wings in 1990.
After retiring as a player, Kevin stayed with the Wings
as Assistant Coach and later as Head Coach. Kevin also served as Head Coach for
the National Conference Team in the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) all-star game in 1991. Kevin’s last year as coach for the Wichita Wings was 2001 when the NPSL ceased operations.
